What I Learned When I Finally Got Consistent with My Skincare

When I was in my early 20s, I thought I had skincare all figured out. My “routine” was using St. Ives Apricot Scrub as a face wash (yikes) and slathering on whatever lotion I had nearby as moisturizer. For my body, I was loyal to Bath & Body Works body gels with the matching lotion or cream. Exfoliation? Only if someone gifted me a body scrub for Christmas. I honestly thought exfoliating was being “extra.”

Fast forward to my late 20s and early 30s, and I realized just how wrong I was.

Around 27, I started paying closer attention to ingredients and routines. I noticed that what I was using (and how I was using it) wasn’t serving me at all. My skin was dry, dull, and just… tired. Thanks to Instagram, Pinterest, YouTube, and TikTok, I started learning more about what my skin actually needed and I finally discovered, and created, products that worked for me.

But here’s the thing: even after finding the right products, I wasn’t consistent. I’d skip days, complain about my skin looking dull, and use the “I don’t have time” excuse. Sound familiar?

It wasn’t until I committed to being consistent that I started noticing real results. Here’s what changed:

1. My skin actually glowed—longer than a day.

That glow you get right after your routine? With consistency, it lasted. My skin looked refreshed, even when I hadn’t done my routine that exact morning. It was proof that my skin was finally getting the love it needed.

2. My skin felt lighter.

Exfoliating twice a week became a game-changer. Think of it like unloading a dumpster truck—our skin holds on to everything from dust in the air to leftover product build-up. Regular exfoliation felt like hitting reset, and it showed.

3. My dry patches didn’t stand a chance.

This was huge for me. By actually moisturizing and sealing in hydration regularly, those pesky dry patches showed up less and less. My skin adapted better to the seasons too. Sometimes all I needed was a body cream, and other times I layered with a butter or oil for that extra protection.

What I realized is that skincare consistency is really about building a relationship with your skin. And here’s the secret: it doesn’t take as much time as you think.

In the shower, you can exfoliate while you wash. When you step out, keep your moisturizing products nearby so you can lock in hydration while your skin is still slightly damp. Done right, the whole thing only takes minutes—but the results? They last.

💡Pro tip: Keep your products where you’ll actually use them. If you see them, you’ll use them.

Now, let’s get your skincare routine to feel less like a chore and more like a ritual. If you’re ready to stay consistent, start simple: try one of our Bundle Sets or Essential Sets designed to make sticking to your routine easy, effective, and—most importantly—enjoyable.
